What Are Plumbing Fittings?

Pipe systems rely heavily on fittings and adapters to join straight sections of pipe or tubing, adapt to various sizes and shapes, and serve multiple functions such as controlling or measuring fluid flow. These essential components are widely utilized in plumbing to manage the distribution of water, gas, or liquid waste in both residential and commercial settings. They play a critical role within a network of pipes and tubes. While fittings—especially those that are less common—require significant investment in terms of money, time, labor, and materials for installation, they remain indispensable in maintaining efficient and reliable piping systems. Valves, while technically categorized as fittings, are often discussed separately due to their unique functionality. Our company specializes in producing high-quality stainless steel threaded pipe fittings and other plumbing components known for their excellent corrosion resistance. However, these products come with specific installation guidelines that must be followed carefully: Firstly, plumbing fittings should never be installed in bedrooms or rooms directly adjacent to them, primarily to prevent potential gas leaks and poisoning hazards. Secondly, a pressure relief pipe must be installed at the water outlet of heating stoves. The standard for the pressure-reducing pipe and its associated malleable pipe fittings should match or exceed the diameter of the main pipe. Thirdly, the water inlet and outlet connections should utilize malleable steel live joints rather than malleable steel pipe hoops (280). This facilitates easier maintenance and future repairs. Fourthly, given exhaust considerations, the main pipeline needs to be slightly inclined, with a slope ratio of 100:1. Fifthly, when using a local heating furnace, the highest point of the pipeline should not exceed six meters above the return water inlet of the furnace. Exceeding this height could lead to excessive pressure, structural deformation, and safety risks. Sixthly, the entire heating system should include an open water filling bucket or expansion tank, ensuring its installation height is at least 25cm above the system's highest point. Seventhly, it is strictly prohibited to install valves on the pipes of the pressure-reducing pipe, water supply tank, or exhaust pipe, as doing so poses significant risks. Eighthly, the midpoint of the water inlet and outlet of the furnace body should be at least 30cm lower than the midpoint of the radiators. The higher the midpoint of the radiators compared to the water inlet and outlet, the better, enhancing water circulation efficiency. Ninthly, if poor water circulation occurs due to factors like excessively long pipes or significant positional differences between radiators and the heating stove, increasing the positional difference can improve circulation. In extreme cases, a small hot water pump may be added to force circulation. However, avoid placing such pumps on horizontal main pipes leading towards the furnace, as this could damage the furnace due to excessive pressure. Tenthly, the chimney of a straight chimney coal stove should be over two meters tall. For bulk coal stoves, chimneys with a diameter of 12cm must be at least four meters tall, with minimal bends and elbows. In addition to these installation guidelines, several safety tips for using heating systems should be noted: 1. During winter, when briefly turning off the flame, ensure all water in the system is drained to prevent freezing and blockages. Failure to do so could result in severe damage due to water pressure increases. 2. Pressure gauges should not exceed 0.1 MPa (1 kg). If this level is surpassed, the boiler must be shut down immediately. The water temperature in low-pressure boilers should not exceed 95°C. 3. Heating systems should never be connected to external heating pipes. 4. When showers are not in use, drain the water from the pipes to prevent freezing and bursting during winter. Regarding honeycomb heating stoves, here are additional considerations: 1. Use high-quality briquettes and avoid damp coal to prevent stove corrosion. 2. Ensure coal blocks align with the furnace, adjust the chimney damper, and open the ash drawer during heating. 3. When cooking rice, remove the pressure fire cover, adjust the chimney damper, or add extra coal to speed up cooking before returning the cover. 4. To replace honeycomb fuel, press a new piece first, cover with the fire cover, and move the handle back and forth until the old fuel falls into the ash drawer. 5. For sealing the fire, place one or two new coal pieces, then add the fire sealing cover, pressure fire cover, and stove ring. Adjust the chimney damper and close the ash drawer. Monitor the setup for about a week. 6. Regularly clean dust from the smoke ducts, heat-absorption sheets, and small water jackets after prolonged use to maintain optimal performance.
