Tips for summer fertilizer application

It is hot and rainy in summer, which is conducive to the growth of various crops. And the sun is abundant, which is beneficial to the photosynthesis of the leaves. Carbohydrates produced by crop photosynthesis require large amounts of nitrogen to form amino acids, proteins and nucleic acids. For food crops such as wheat, corn and rice, summer is a vigorous growing season in which crop vegetative growth and reproductive growth alternate. The rapid growth stage of crops requires a large amount of nutrients, especially nitrogen and potassium, and therefore requires top dressing.
Field crops are mainly applied to nitrogen fertilizer, and economic crops such as vegetables, tobacco, grapes, cotton, etc., in addition to nitrogen fertilizers, should be applied to potash fertilizer. For example, spring corn crops are treated with urea one-time base fertilizer as a reference, and the other half of the urea is used as a top dressing, which is applied at the end of July and early August. The latter's nitrogen fertilizer utilization rate can be increased by 10 to 20 percentage points. This indicates that the utilization rate of nitrogen fertilizer application is significantly higher than that of all nitrogen fertilizers. Regarding the method of applying nitrogen and potassium fertilizer in summer, it is necessary to ditch the soil to avoid the loss of nitrogen volatilization caused by nitrogen application and the potassium fixation caused by the alternating dry and wet of potassium fertilizer on the surface.
However, it should be noted that the application of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer should cover the soil to avoid nitrogen loss during the hot and rainy season.
