Abstract China's first engineering machinery electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) safety standard, GB/T 28554-2012 titled "Electrical Compatibility Requirements for Construction Machinery with Power Supply Units for Industrial Machinery and Electrical Equipment," was officially released by the National Standardization Administration Committee. This milestone marks a significant step forward in the Chinese construction machinery industry, as it has long relied on foreign standards for EMC testing when exporting products to Europe and the U.S.
The new standard provides comprehensive technical specifications for evaluating the EMC performance of construction machinery, including mobile cranes, concrete pump trucks, and sanitation vehicles. It outlines test methods and guidelines that align with international requirements, helping to ensure the reliability and safety of these machines in various environments.
According to reports, the research on electromagnetic compatibility in China’s construction machinery sector has been limited. One major challenge is the lack of a complete system for testing and an appropriate testing environment. Additionally, there were no national EMC technology standards in place, forcing Chinese manufacturers to follow foreign regulations without having a voice in the process. This often prevented them from achieving technological leadership over Western counterparts.
To address this gap, Zoomlion took the initiative by establishing the country's first key enterprise laboratory and leading the first national basic research and development project (973) focused on the key technologies of electromagnetic compatibility in engineering machinery. Through this effort, the company has now developed and released China's first safety standard for EMC in construction machinery, showcasing its leadership in advancing both industrial technology and standards.
This achievement represents a crucial step toward positioning China at the forefront of global engineering machinery innovation. With this new standard, Zoomlion is not only setting a benchmark for domestic manufacturers but also paving the way for greater technological independence and competitiveness on the world stage.
