The printing and dyeing industry is entering a new and specialized phase. Recently, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television organized an exhibition showcasing products and services from the first batch of 29 national print replication model enterprises. Alongside these, various specialized, refined, unique, and innovative enterprises and their offerings were also on display. These companies represent the current state of development within China's printing industry.
Industrial intensification plays a key role in determining competitiveness, while the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) reflects the vitality and overall quality of the sector. This time, the administration focused on promoting the achievements of the selected model companies, while also producing a promotional video that was continuously shown to highlight the top-tier performance of China’s printing industry. The goal is to foster a sense of pride and encourage the entire industry to strive for advancement, ultimately gaining market recognition through innovation and excellence.
According to the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" for the printing industry, by the end of the plan period, the country aims to cultivate several printing companies with output values exceeding RMB 5 billion, and around 100 companies with output values over RMB 1 billion. On April 7, the General Administration of Press and Publication issued a notice titled “Notice on Organizing the Filing of National Model Enterprises for Printing and Copying in 2013.†In the second half of the year, they aim to establish another 30 or so model enterprises. To support their growth, the administration plans to provide policy support, funding, and awards. Additionally, a national alliance of model enterprises is being set up to leverage collective strengths, connect with overseas orders, and promote technological innovation for better industry development.
Small and micro enterprises are known for their flexibility in production, allowing them to meet diverse customer needs. They are a crucial part of the printing market, contributing positively to employment and economic stability. These businesses are also an essential component of China’s current economic landscape. We must follow the State Council’s “Opinions on Further Supporting the Healthy Development of Small and Micro Enterprises†to ensure continued support for their growth. Recently, Shanghai became the first city to raise publishing and printing labor wages, which, although modest, sends a positive signal to SMEs and contributes to sustainable development.
