Printing and dyeing industry enters special stage

The printing and dyeing industry has entered a special stage, marked by significant developments and innovations. Recently, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television organized an exhibition showcasing the products and services of the first batch of 29 national print replication model enterprises. Alongside these, several specialized, refined, unique, and innovative enterprises and their products were also displayed across different regions. These companies represent the current high level of development within the Chinese printing industry. Industrial intensification plays a key role in determining competitiveness, while the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) reflects the vitality and overall quality of the sector. This time, the administration divided the display areas to better highlight the achievements of these model enterprises. The focus was on presenting the top-tier offerings from the 29 selected companies, with a promotional video being played continuously to showcase the best that China’s printing industry has to offer. The goal is not only to instill a sense of pride in being "advanced" but also to push the entire industry to catch up with global standards and secure more market opportunities through continuous improvement. In addition to the model enterprises, various other specialized firms were also featured, further demonstrating the industry's breadth and depth. According to the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” for the printing industry, by the end of the plan period, the country aims to cultivate several printing companies with output exceeding RMB 5 billion and over 100 enterprises with output above RMB 1 billion. On April 7, the General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television issued the “Notice on Organizing the Filing of a National Model Enterprise for Printing and Copying in 2013.” By the second half of the year, they aim to identify another 30 or so model companies. To support the growth of these enterprises, the administration plans to provide policy support, project funding, and awards. Additionally, a national alliance of printing and replication model enterprises is being considered. This alliance will help leverage competitive advantages, connect with international orders, and promote technological innovation, aiming for more sustainable and advanced development. Small and micro enterprises remain vital to the industry due to their flexibility in production and ability to meet diverse customer needs. They are essential to the printing market, contributing significantly to employment and economic stability. Their importance aligns with the nation’s current conditions, and it is crucial to follow the State Council’s “Opinions on Further Supporting the Healthy Development of Small and Micro Enterprises.” Recently, Shanghai saw the first increase in publishing and printing labor prices, which, although modest, signals growing support for SMEs and injects positive momentum into the industry’s development.
