After the bearing equipment is installed, it's essential to verify its proper function. For smaller machines, manually rotating the unit can help determine if the movement is smooth and free of resistance. Inspect the area for any foreign objects, scratches, or dents that could affect performance. Also, check for unstable torque caused by issues like incorrect clearance, misalignment, or seal interference. If everything appears normal, the power can be safely turned on. For larger machinery, manual rotation is not feasible. Instead, after a no-load start, the machine should be allowed to idle. During this time, observe for any vibrations, unusual noises, or contact between moving parts. Only once all these checks are completed without issues should the machine proceed to full operation. During power operation, begin with no-load and low-speed conditions, gradually increasing the load according to specified parameters. Monitor key factors such as abnormal sounds, changes in bearing temperature, leaks, or discoloration of lubricants. Regularly inspect the machine, and if necessary, remove the bearing for closer examination. Bearing temperature is typically estimated based on the external temperature of the housing. However, using an oil hole allows direct measurement of the outer ring’s temperature. Initially, the temperature will rise gradually and stabilize within 1–2 hours. If the temperature rises sharply or reaches abnormally high levels, it may indicate issues such as excessive lubricant, too small clearance, poor installation, or seal conflicts. High-speed operations can also lead to problems related to bearing design, lubrication selection, or other operational faults. Abnormal sounds from bearings can be detected using a stethoscope. These may include loud metallic noises, irregular sounds, or other unusual patterns. Such signs could point to poor lubrication, low shaft or housing accuracy, bearing damage, or contamination from foreign materials.
