On July 25th and 26th, the first inspection team from the Provincial Safety Committee, composed of representatives from the Gansu Provincial Party Supervision and Supervision Office, the Provincial Safety Supervision Bureau, the Provincial Public Security Department, and the Provincial Communications Department, conducted on-site inspections in Lanzhou New District, Yongdeng, Xigu, and Chengguan. The focus was on evaluating the implementation of safety production measures across various sectors.
During the visit to Yongdeng County on July 25th, the inspection team examined road traffic safety conditions. As the team traveled along the route, Deputy Mayor Li Bo suggested an unexpected change to the original plan, directing the team to conduct a surprise inspection at a bus stop rather than the scheduled long-distance bus station. This adjustment aimed to get a more realistic view of passenger safety practices.
At 4:20 pm, two Yutong buses traveling from Yongde to Lanzhou arrived near Dashagou Village in Kushui Town. The inspection team checked the vehicles and found that neither was overloaded. All required emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers and safety hammers, were present, and the drivers had valid licenses. However, many passengers were not wearing seat belts. The team members and local traffic police reminded each passenger about the importance of securing their seat belts.
It was reported that during the two-month rural road traffic safety campaign in Yongdeng County, 368 cases of serious overloading violations were investigated and handled, while 585 unlicensed vehicles were seized.
Later that day, at 11:30 am, the inspection team visited the Gansu Provincial Fire Brigade training base project in Lanzhou New District. Zhao Xiaohui, deputy director of the Provincial Work Safety Administration, discovered that the construction workers’ helmets—both yellow and red—were of poor quality and unqualified. He noted that these helmets were purchased by the workers themselves and urged the project head from China Construction Third Engineering Bureau to ensure that all safety gear, including helmets, seat belts, and safety nets, met strict standards.
Since July, Lanzhou New District has been overseeing 34 municipal road projects and one utility project. Additionally, 94 units involved in 36 construction projects and 10 ready-mixed concrete companies within the district have undergone safety inspections. So far, 21 quality and safety rectification notices have been issued, with six already corrected and reported back. (China Labor Insurance Network)
