Zero tariff! ASEAN or the future of ceramics into a new market in China

52 Foshan Tao Enterprise Delegations visited Thailand to increase their participation in the ASEAN market. 52 Foshan Tao Enterprise Baotuan participated in the China-ASEAN (Thailand) Commodity Trade Fair held in Bangkok, Thailand from January 6th to 9th. Ceramics Commodity Exhibition focused on displaying the Foshan ceramic brand image and further intensified the development of the ASEAN market.

The exhibition was sponsored by the China Foreign Trade Center and other units. Under the organization of the Municipal Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Bureau and the Municipal Ceramic Industry Association, 128 new booths were awarded by Foshan New Ceramics, New Zhongyuan, Mona Lisa, Dongpeng, Eagle and other Foshan ceramic enterprises. Occupies one-third of the total number of exhibition booths, and they all use Foshan Ceramics as their logo to focus on Foshan's superior ceramic companies and brands. The four-day exhibition attracted more than 14,000 professional buyers.

At the exhibition, the New Pearl Company performed special installations in accordance with the standard of the first-class exhibition halls. Deputy Minister of Commerce Song Kuai, Thailand, visited the site and inquired in detail about the research and development of the New Pearl Company and products. Many Thai buyers are very optimistic about Foshan ceramic products. After understanding the price, they negotiate on the spot and ask for agency requirements.

The Foshan delegation also organized traditional arts such as fine arts ceramics and craft paper cutting to perform live on the show. The Chinese Embassy in Thailand invited four technologists to travel to Thailand again in mid-January as a guest performer for the Spring Festival activities of the Chinese Embassy. During the exhibition, the City Ceramic Industry Association held a Foshan ceramics arts and crafts auction, and donated some of the proceeds to Thailand's flood-affected areas and people.

It is reported that in the context of frequent anti-dumping, Foshan ceramic exports to the European Union and other markets fell seriously, have intensified efforts to open up the market in Southeast Asia. The 7,000-mu "Thailand Foshan Ceramics Base" is also under construction. The construction of the "Foshan Foshan Ceramics Base" will start in March this year and attract foreign investment.

According to Dai Yimin, chairman of the Foshan Ceramics Association, using Thailand as a production base can directly radiate the entire Southeast Asian market, and at the same time it can also use this as an export destination to evade anti-dumping in Europe and the United States.

It is understood that as ASEAN is close to China and has developed rapidly in recent years, it has now become one of the top three export markets for Foshan ceramics. In Vietnam, Malaysia and other countries, rich ceramic raw material resources and human resources, and the cost is relatively cheap, is a rare opportunity for Foshan ceramics.

It is understood that on December 29, 2009, the Ministry of Commerce announced that China and ASEAN will complete the establishment of a free trade zone in 2010. From January 1, 2010, over 90% of the six old members of China and ASEAN - Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore - have zero tariffs. The four new members of ASEAN - Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar - will achieve a 90% zero tariff target by 2015. (Integrated)

The situation in Vietnam has little impact on the export of ceramics. The publication was informed by Foshan ceramics companies such as Louvre Ceramics, Kangtuo Ceramics, Jiatleli Ceramics and Jinsi Yuma that the current situation in Vietnam has little effect on ceramic exports.

According to Zheng Hongyuan, manager of Kangtuo Ceramics Export Department, Kangtuo ceramics exports to Southeast Asia accounted for about 80%, mainly exported to the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and so on. Although the proportion of exports to Southeast Asia is relatively large, Zheng Hongyuan said: “The local turmoil generally has little impact, and small-scale conflicts at the political level have little impact on the economy.”

Xiong Jian, director of marketing at the Louvre, said: “Unless you really fight it, it shouldn’t matter.” The reporter’s investigation found that because the export channels of ceramic products are not yet complete and the export volume is not large, the impact is currently minimal.
