This is the first time that a domestic aerospace-class CPU has served as the main program on a practical satellite. Without atmospheric protection, the integrated circuit is easily disturbed by cosmic rays and malfunctions. The chip must be "radiation-resistant" before it can work in space. The integrated circuit anti-radiation reinforcement technology is the core common basic technology of aerospace.
The Aerospace 772, established in 1994, specializes in the development of aerospace chips. Zhao Yuanfu, director of the company, said that the technical route of the 772 is to add anti-radiation characteristics in the chip design process rather than the manufacturing process, and its aerospace chips can be fabricated on a common chip assembly line. They have developed more than 200 radiation-resistant integrated circuits to date.
The aerospace CPU is the core chip of the satellite. The mission is to receive ground commands, process load data, manage control attitudes, etc., which is equivalent to the satellite brain. The CPU chip on the Beidou Double Star and the "Expedition No. 1" upper-level rocket is only the size of the thumb cover. It was developed by the Aerospace 772 for 10 years, and it is the dream of the "Chinese core" of the astronauts.
In addition to the CPU, nearly 40 products such as the data bus circuit, converter and memory on the Beidou Double Star and the upper level are developed and produced by the Aerospace 772. This is the first time that China’s satellites have been systematically used in batches, and domestically used chips have been used in batches. Controllable and innovative development is a milestone.
