Russian Ministry of Energy: Willing to Expand Exports to China's Electricity

International Energy Network News: According to Xinhua News Agency, Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Andrei Shishkin said yesterday that the Russian side is willing to further strengthen its cooperation with China's electricity and expand its electricity exports to China.

After attending the seminar on development of the Russian electric power industry, Shishkin told reporters on the Xinhua News Agency that Russia and China have already drawn up relevant cooperation plans in the electric power field. The two sides held close consultations on power cooperation during the Russian-Chinese energy negotiators meeting. He said that Russia and China are currently actively implementing trans-Heilongjiang transmission line projects. After the completion of the project, Russia's annual export of electricity to the Chinese can be increased from the current 1 billion kwh to 5 to 6 billion kwh.

Hishkin emphasized that with the gradual deepening of Russia-China power cooperation, Russia also plans to build power plants in the border areas of the two countries to reduce power transmission losses and reduce transportation costs.

Vasily Makarov, deputy general manager of Russia Eastern Energy Company, said that according to relevant plans, Russia plans to allow Russia to achieve 60 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity exports to China each year by 2020.

Russian Energy Minister Shmatko stated on the 13th that in addition to the oil and gas sector, both Russia and China have a very broad space for cooperation in the areas of electricity, energy equipment manufacturing, coal, and research and development of renewable clean energy.
